COSTS 2012 |
Primary Courses
$170 inc GST
These costs are per person and include the training manual (containing all the lesson plans and assessment activities) and refreshments. Please note that participants will need to bring their own lunch for the one day courses.
Advanced Course (formerly called Refresher)
$90 inc GST
Aimed at teachers who not only have attended training, but have been teaching phonics and want training at a higher level. If you have not taught (or seldom taught) phonics since training, please repeat the Primary course instead.
This course includes:
- supplementary hearing activities
- how to maximise your phonics teaching
- suggestions on how to transfer phonics to reading and writing
- two new stages for children needing more practise at Stages 4 and 5
- time for questions and feedback
A Phonics Training Advanced manual will be provided but please bring your own Phonics Training manual or order a new one at the time of booking.
Early Childhood Education Course
$100 inc GST
These costs are per person and include the training manual (containing all the lesson plans and assessment activities) and refreshments.
Certificates of Participation are presented to ECE attendees as part of the enrolment fee. Please ensure you have printed your name clearly on the registration form.
Early Words
$70 inc GST
These costs are per person and include refreshments and a training handout but exclude the Early Words manual which must be purchased separately.
Discounts
For schools that send 5 teachers on a course, an extra sixth place is offered for free. The teachers must all attend the same course on the same day. Please mention this discount at the time of booking.
We can also offer a discount if you are attending two courses in the same week. Please enquire at the time of booking.

COURSE INFORMATION |
Catering
In line with our ethical and eco eating principles, and to cater for those with allergies, all food provided with morning or afternoon tea is vegan (free of animal products). Please inform us at the time of booking if you have any allergies or food intolerances. Please note that lunch is not provided and due to the short lunch break, we recommend that you bring a cut lunch with you for the day courses.

We do not publish venues on the website. If you have enrolled on a course and forgotten the venue address, call Judith 03 310 6777 or 021 058 2842.
Courses not listed
If you are attending a Phonics Training course not listed above, it is because the course has been organised by a school or teacher in your area and not by us. For information about the course, just ask the school or teacher responsible.

IN-SCHOOL SUPPORT |
Schools are welcome to invite Yolanda in to deliver training to their whole staff. In-school training ensures consistency throughout the school in phonics knowledge and teaching.
Examples of in school training:
- a teacher only day
- an after school / evening staff meeting
- training can also be run in school holidays or weekends
Additional support:
- lesson modelling in your own classrooms
- lesson observations
- support for the SENCO or AP responsible for phonics development in the school
- follow up staff training
- parent evening presentations

Please note that for schools outside of Christchurch, due to travel and time constraints, options may be restricted and that there may be a waiting list for schools wanting in-school training. |
